What are you raising money for?

I am raising funds to support the Street2school Initiative. They are a non-profit organization dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of Nigerian children. They work hard to provide quality education to underprivileged and out-of-school children. The funds raised will directly contribute to their initiatives through reviving the educational journey of four bright students. Childhood education has a multitude of benefits, including but not limited to - cognitive development, improved social skills, self-confidence, and holistic development. Children who are willing and eager to learn, are often trumped by the cost of school fees and academic participation, which pushes them out of the educational system. The goal of this fundraising mission is to empower uneducated children through the work of the Street2School Initiative.

Why are you raising the funds?

By participating in the Access Bank 10k at the Lagos City Marathon, I will firstly be pushing myself to achieve a fitness goal, as well as raising awareness and funds for the selected charity. As a first time marathon runner, I am calling on my community of friends and family to give towards supporting this laudable effort. The cause is much bigger than the marathon itself. It is an effort to raise awareness of the low levels of child education in the country and to rectify this through placing underprivileged children back into the positive school environment. The goal amount of ?300,000 will be achieved through your kind donations. The funds raised will help Street2school Initiative expand their reach and further their missions.

What will the funds raised help achieve?

The funds raised will help the Street2school Initiative place 4 underprivileged children back into school. It is important to note that the act of educating a child has a positive ripple effect on their family, community, and the nation, at large. Childhood education is especially pertinent in a developing country like Nigeria. As the saying by Diognes goes, “The foundation of every state is the education of its youth.” Childhood education is the key driver in the betterment of Nigeria's future.
