What are you raising money for?

We are raising funds to help Emmanuel Udoh, who has been diagnosed with kidney failure, to help him receive urgent kidney transplant that will save his life. Mr. Emmanuel Udoh has spent months battling with this condition, surviving only through frequent and expensive dialysis sessions. Mr Emmanuel Udoh was forced into early retirement due to his health and he has spent all his funds on dialysis which happens twice every week. While dialysis has been helpful, it is not a long-term solution and it has drained the finances of the family who still has 3 kids in higher institution and one in her final year in secondary school. His doctors have confirmed that a transplant is the only way he can regain his health and avoid further complications that might be life-threatening. The cost of the surgery, pre-transplant, evaluation, medications, logistics, and post operation care amounts to #40 million, an amount that is far beyond what Mr Emmanuel Udoh and family can afford. Mr Emmanuel Udoh is still a young man in his 50s who has responsibilities, and if not for his health challenge he was doing just fine taking care of his family, however, this is one battle that he cannot fight alone. This fundraises is a call to all compassionate hearts to join hands and give Emmanuel another chance at life. Why are you raising the funds?

This fundraising effort is important because time is no longer on the side of Mr Emmanuel. His kidney function keeps deteriorating to a very dangerous level as he has battled with this illness for the past two years and continuous dialysis is becoming increasingly risky. Sometimes he remains unconscious for days after the dialysis and it always leave him weak as it drains his strength. The longer he remains without a transplant, the higher the chances of severe complications such as heart failure, infection, and irreversible organ damage. His doctors have emphasized that this transplant needs to take place as soon as possible to help save his life. Mr Emmanuel has shown incredible courage all through his ordeal as his support systems which are his wife and kids are always there to cheer and encourage him, however, he lacks the financial resources to access the life-saving surgery he needs. His family have used up all their resources and exhausted their savings and the required amount is far above what they can afford. Raising these funds at this time is very necessary because further delay of the transplant could cost Mr Emmanuel his life and this will leave his wife a widow and his amazing children will become fatherless. Your support can prevent a tragic outcome and give hope where fear once stood. As regards this, I am pleading with anyone who comes across this to help save Mr Emmanuel’s life and give his family a new hope and happiness again.

What will the funds raised help achieve?

The funds raised will directly cover Mr Emmanuel’s kidney transplant fee which includes the surgery, donor testing, medications, and post-transplant care. With #40 million, Emmanuel can be admitted for the procedure, receive the necessary immunosuppressant drugs, and undergo proper recovery without any form of financial barriers. This will also free him from the endless cycle of dialysis that keeps draining his strength and give him back his strength, independence, and long-term good health. Beyond the medical impact, any support gathered will help restore Mr Emmanuel’s hope at life and return sweetness and happiness back into his life and it will be him having a second chance at life, not everyone gets second chances but Mr Emmanuel has hope for a second chance, hence let us make this a reality.
