What are you raising money for?

We are raising money to purchase: (i). Two hundred (200) Books from different Genres ,(ii).Four (4) Bookshelves that will hold the books for display to attract attention of the children and teenagers. (iii). Twenty (20) furniture which comprise of chairs and tables for readers to seat comfortable on to read. (iv). Five (5) Desktop computers that they would use for research, search for new words seen in the books they are reading and to read online books. (v). Five (5) Chess boards and Five (5) Scrabble boards for them to use these game for creative thinking and problem solving skills. Part of the money raised also goes into paying the volunteer librarian stipend, who makes sure the library is kept neat and books arranged in their appropriate places and makes sure the children are comfortable and reading every time they make use of the Library.

Why are you raising the funds?

We are raising the funds, firstly, to support our community leaders library and have a standard, conducive library in the community where children and Teenagers can come to read and make good use of their time, learn new vocabulary, learn new things, expand their world view. For them to have the opportunity to borrow books home to read and have a conducive place for interaction with the world through books and the use of computers to search for new words and ideas. Secondly, the fund will also help to ease the challenges of lack of funds to get good books that serves as resources to groom a lifelong habit of reading and becoming knowledgably, focused, disciplined and responsible leaders .

What will the funds raised help achieve?

Funds raised will help to buy 200 books, 4 furniture, 20 reading tables and chairs, buy 5 Desktop computers, 10 Chess board and Scrabble board and stipend for volunteer librarian. This in turn would let us have a standard and conducive library in the community for community use especially for children and teenagers. It would also help to promote reading culture and book drive in the community. It would help to raise readers, creative thinkers and great achievers. Making them responsible children and leaders as they grow up. It would also help them to imbibe good habits and shunning vices in the community. Members of our library then become positive role models, that other children and teenagers in the community will emulate. Their good character, therefore will attract their peers, which will increase the number of users presently from 32 to most likely 250 within the next 3 months because of the vast population of children, teens and youth in that community. The overall achievement would be that we have been able to transform the lives of the community children and youths through book drive, reading culture and in the nearest future (3-5 years) see a transformed community.
