Through the Pan African Women Leadership Academy (PAWLA), an initiative of the Alice Wanny Development Foundation (AWDF), we are raising funds to provide scholarships and educational support to one thousand orphans and children living in conflict-prone areas across Nigeria. Many of these children have lost their parents, homes, and the opportunity to go to school because of insecurity, displacement, and poverty. PAWLA believes that education is not a privilege but a right, and a powerful instrument for rebuilding young lives that have been disrupted by crises. Funds raised will be used to pay school fees, provide uniforms, textbooks, learning materials, and mentorship programs that will help these children remain in school and build confidence in their abilities. Through this support, we will also promote emotional healing and hope among children who have experienced loss and fear. We have already awarded full scholarships to twenty orphans, demonstrating that change begins when compassion meets action. Every contribution, no matter the size, carries a child from hopelessness to opportunity, from fear to confidence, and from crises to classrooms. Together, we can restore dreams, dignity, and a future filled with light.
The funds raised through the From Crises to Classrooms campaign will directly address the barriers that keep orphans and children in conflict-affected areas out of school. Many of these children have lost their parents and homes and are struggling to survive without access to education or emotional support. By providing scholarships, learning materials, uniforms, and mentorship, PAWLA will remove the financial and social obstacles that prevent them from returning to school. Your contribution will help create safe learning spaces where these children can heal, learn, and dream again. Education will give them the confidence to rebuild their lives, break the cycle of poverty, and become productive citizens who contribute positively to society. The impact goes beyond classrooms. It will restore hope in children who had given up, empower young girls to see education as a path to freedom, and strengthen communities affected by conflict. Each scholarship will be a seed of transformation, helping to shape future leaders, peace advocates, and changemakers. Together, we can turn despair into possibility and ensure that no child is left behind because of circumstances they did not choose.
Across Nigeria, thousands of orphans and children in conflict-prone areas are watching their dreams fade away because they can no longer go to school. Many have lost their parents to violence, their homes to insecurity, and their confidence to fear. Yet, within their hearts still burns a small light — the desire to learn, to grow, and to become something more. We are raising these funds because education is the bridge between their pain and a new beginning. It is the one gift that can never be taken away, the tool that can lift them from dependency to purpose. Every scholarship means a child sitting in a classroom instead of wandering the streets. It means a young girl choosing books over early marriage, and a boy discovering that his story can be rewritten. This is the moment to act because every day of delay is another day lost in the life of a child who deserves a chance. Together, through PAWLA, we can turn crises into classrooms and despair into hope. The time is now to invest in their future, restore their dignity, and prove that love can rebuild what conflict has broken.
