HELP HELEN ODEH TO UNDERGO CERVICAL SPINE SURGERY

What are you raising money for?

Helen Odeh has been on bed and wheelchair for about two years now, unable to move or walk. The doctors treating her have recommended cervical spine surgery for her to be able to walk again. The surgery, along with drugs that will be needed will cost N3,100,000. Different tests will have to be repeated to ascertain whether or not the situation has deteriorated before carrying out the surgery. The funds raised will assist her to meet the cost of such Tests. She has been in pain. She can not move from the bed on her own and has to be carried to urinate to use the toilet or to be given a bath. She and the family sincerely ask for the help of Nigerians in order to raise the needed funds.

Why are you raising the funds?

She is not capable of meeting the cost of the surgery, neither is her family, that is, her siblings and children. She is a divorcee who suffered so much physical abuse before being separated from her husband many years ago as a result. The family have spent so much on diagnosis and drugs since she became sick two years ago. She was a private primary school teacher earning about N15,000 before she became sick. The funds raised will remove the financial barrier between her current situation and the medical operation needed to get her to walk again. Without this funds the process will not commence. It will be a great relief because she has no financial capacity to meet the cost of the surgery and treatment. Please I seek your help and the good will of all to help her regain good health.

What will the funds raised help achieve?

The funds raised will help to provide the cost of the surgery and treatment recommended by the doctors in order to get her to walk again. She needs to pay for drugs, medical tests, some of which were done before but will have to be repeated, and bed-space for the length of time she would stay on admission in the hospital. Being able to raise this funds will be a great relief to her and her care-givers, that is the family, knowing that the surgery can be carried out without anymore financial hindrance. It will also help to arrest any deterioration in her condition which may occur as a result of further protracting the illness.
