What are you raising money for?

I am raising funds to provide reusable sanitary pads to girls in impoverished rural communities in Nigeria, where economic hardships prevent many from affording basic menstrual hygiene products. Period poverty is a pressing issue in these areas, forcing girls to use unsafe and unhygienic alternatives like old clothes, rags, and tissue paper during their menstrual cycles. This not only poses severe health risks, such as infections and reproductive issues but also perpetuates the cycle of poverty and gender inequality. Many girls miss school during their periods due to the lack of proper sanitary products, leading to significant disruptions in their education. Over time, these absences contribute to higher dropout rates and limit their future opportunities. The stigma and embarrassment surrounding menstruation further isolate these girls, affecting their confidence and overall well-being. By providing reusable pads, we aim to offer a sustainable solution that ensures these girls can manage their periods with dignity and safety. Reusable pads are cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and can be used for several months to years, making them a practical option for long-term menstrual health. This initiative will not only improve the health and hygiene of these girls but also enable them to attend school regularly, empowering them to pursue their dreams and break free from the cycle of poverty. Your support can make a profound difference in their lives, helping to create a future where no girl has to choose between her health and her education due to lack of access to basic sanitary needs.

Why are you raising the funds?

I am raising funds to provide reusable sanitary pads for girls in impoverished rural communities in Nigeria. The economic hardship in Nigeria has severely impacted these communities, making it nearly impossible for many girls to afford basic sanitary products. The hike in the price of disposable sanitary pads has only exacerbated this issue, leading to increased absenteeism from school and other daily activities. Girls who cannot afford these essential items are often forced to resort to unsafe and unhygienic alternatives, which can lead to serious health issues. Reusable sanitary pads offer a cost-effective and sustainable solution to this problem. Unlike disposable pads, which need to be purchased every month, reusable pads can last for several years with proper care. This not only reduces the financial burden on these families but also helps in reducing waste and promoting environmental sustainability. By providing these reusable pads, we aim to empower these girls to attend school consistently, maintain their health and dignity, and focus on their education without the constant worry of managing their menstrual hygiene. At this critical stage, your support is essential. The funds raised will go directly towards purchasing high-quality reusable pads and educating the girls on their proper use and care. This initiative will have a lasting impact, helping to break the cycle of poverty and improving the quality of life for many girls in these communities. Your contribution can make a significant difference.

What will the funds raised help achieve?

The funds raised will help provide reusable sanitary pads to girls in impoverished rural communities in Nigeria, where many cannot afford basic sanitary needs due to economic hardship. This initiative will have a profound and lasting impact by addressing menstrual poverty head-on. Reusable pads are cost-effective and sustainable. Unlike disposable pads, which need to be purchased every month, reusable pads can be used for several years with proper care. This reduces the financial burden on families who struggle to afford monthly sanitary products. For many girls, missing school during their periods due to a lack of sanitary products is a harsh reality. By providing reusable pads, we enable these girls to attend school consistently, enhancing their educational opportunities and prospects. Moreover, reusable pads have a positive environmental impact by reducing waste associated with single-use products. This initiative not only supports the health and dignity of young girls but also promotes environmental sustainability. The impact of your contribution extends beyond immediate sanitary needs. It empowers girls with confidence and uninterrupted education, breaking the cycle of poverty. Educated girls are more likely to become economically independent and contribute positively to their communities. Thus, the funds will foster a ripple effect of positive change, lifting entire communities out of poverty and promoting gender equality. In summary, your donation will provide a cost-effective, sustainable solution to menstrual poverty, ensuring girls in rural Nigeria can manage their menstruation with dignity, stay in school, and build a brighter future.
