The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Committee on National Emergencies recognizes the critical need for a comprehensive and coordinated response to national emergencies. Bearing in mind the Nigerian Emergency Response Plan, this plan outlines the strategies and actions necessary for the body of doctors in Nigeria to contribute to the effective management and mitigation of the impact of emergencies on public health. To reduce morbidity and mortality during emergencies. To ensure a timely and efficient medical response. To coordinate efforts and volunteering among various stakeholders particularly doctors in the provision of medical care to victims in national emergencies. To rally financial and material support for the medical care and general welfare of victims. To restore normalcy to the healthcare system in the aftermath of an emergency.
