Clean Water for Kpong Community in Rivers State

Providing access to clean water isn’t just a task of charity, it is an act of justice. The protection of a fundamental human right. The right to dignity and decent life. It is in fact a key towards unlocking an enormous human potential.

My name is Bilqees Lawal, I’m a 20-year-old first class graduate of Accounting from Achievers University and a corp member serving in Khana LGA, Rivers State, Nigeria.
While being a corp member serving in one of the remote areas of Rivers State, I’ve been exposed to the underprivileged living conditions of members in my community.

Kpong Community is one of the communities in Khana LGA in Ogoni land, Rivers State and it is a home to over 5,000 people. The villagers walk miles to a dirty river contaminated with faeces and other wastes to get water for survival and other basic needs. They are subjected to an unsafe drinking water source detrimental to their survival.

For months now, I’ve written to and visited corporate organisations, non-governmental organisations, religious organisations and other Humanitarian organisations but I’ve been unable to gather the adequate support essential towards the execution of this project.

Consequently , I decided to create this fundraising scheme with the hopes that people with compassion for humanity would support me in achieving this goal.
The estimated cost of drilling a standard motorized borehole is 1,500,000. 

I therefore appeal to everyone reading this to join me in being an agent of change and bringing a new dawn to the lives of more than 1,000 underprivileged villagers living in Kpong Community in Rivers State.
