Help Impulse Recycling in the education and empowerment of rural Nigerian women. Your donation will change a woman’s life.
According to the report from the United Nations Women and the World Bank in 2017, more women and girls are living in extreme poverty than men. The report documents that two-thirds of illiterate people worldwide are women. The Nigerian-born Director-General of World Trade Organization, Professor Okonjo Iweala says that “investing in women is smart economics, and investing in girls, catching them upstream is even smarter economics.” Empowering women is a key pillar for sustainable development around the world.
Impulse Recycling, a start-up PET recycling company based in Kurudu, Abuja, has partnered with Relief Retailers to hold an empowerment workshop (Empower Women 2021), for the women who work tirelessly at our factory, sorting and preparing PET bottles for grinding and recycling. These women play an essential role not only within our company but in the fight against climate change.
The two-day workshop will be held at Impulse Recycling's factory in Kurudu, Abuja. Experienced facilitators from LEGASI (Ladies Empowerment Goals and Support Initiative) will provide reproductive health education, a hands-on class for participants to learn how to make their own reusable menstrual pads and basic entrepreneurship coaching to make a living.
By teaching women how to make their own reusable sanitary pads, we can promote hygiene, waste reduction, and improved health. The entrepreneurship section of the workshop will also assist the women in gaining autonomy over their finances and building independence from multiple income streams.
The goal of the workshop is to empower a community of women through education and to support their evolution. For Impulse Recycling, this workshop will help us to push our agenda to entrench sustainability in Nigeria even further. Your contribution will go a long way to help us achieve these.
Thank you for your support on behalf of Empower Women 2021!
