Our initiative aims to empower girls in rural and low-income schools across Nigeria by providing essential dignity kits. These kits are carefully put together to include reusable sanitary pads, underwear, soap, and informative menstrual health leaflets. We believe that by providing these basic necessities, we can help girls manage their periods with comfort and confidence, ensuring they don't miss out on their education. Beyond distributing kits, we're committed to fostering a deeper understanding of menstrual health. We'll be hosting engaging and interactive menstrual hygiene workshops in five different states across Nigeria. These workshops will offer a safe space for girls to learn about their bodies, proper hygiene practices, and break down any stigma surrounding menstruation. Our goal is to promote better health, dignity, and school attendance for every girl.
Far too many girls in Nigeria face a hidden challenge: they miss school for as many as five days every single month. The reason is simple yet heartbreaking: they don't have access to basic sanitary pads. For girls living in poverty and low-income areas, pads are simply not something they can afford. This often forces them to use unsafe alternatives like old rags or tissue paper, which can lead to serious infections and other health problems. Adding to this struggle is the widespread silence surrounding menstruation. This lack of open discussion only deepens the shame and stigma girls feel, making it harder for them to manage their periods with dignity. Ultimately, this leads to significant educational inequality, as these girls fall behind in their studies. Our campaign is directly addressing this issue, aiming to bridge the gap in access, education, and open conversation, so that every girl can stay in school and thrive.
This campaign is all about making sure 1,000 girls can stay in school every single month. Our goal is to ensure they feel safe and confident during their periods, rather than embarrassed or afraid. A huge part of this is providing them with proper menstrual education, so they understand their bodies and how to manage their health. Right now, many girls miss out on their education because they don't have access to pads or the right information. This campaign directly tackles that problem by addressing menstrual poverty. By doing so, we're not just giving out pads; we're actively breaking the silence around menstruation, which has caused so much shame and stigma. We're also restoring confidence in these young girls, empowering them to focus on their studies and participate fully in school life. Ultimately, we believe that by supporting them through their periods, we're helping these girls to thrive both in school and in their lives beyond the classroom.
