What are you raising money for?

We are raising the money to buy equipment for making tie dye and sewing them into products that can be sold. We shall do these in the centre we will set up as a safe zone for wives and children of blind beggars to be empowered with vocational skills for those that are not educated. For those who have received some level of education be it basic or advanced, we shall give ICT education as we train them to change their quality of life through vocational skills and ICT. This skill is usually acquired at a private blond cannot afford and with equipment that is not adapted to their needs.

Why are you raising the funds?

Blindness causes loss of access to knowledge and skills leading to economic exclusion and more poverty. This the vicious cycle is given as a gift from parents to their cycle. Experience has shown us that education is a powerful tool that poor disabled people can break out of this vicious cycle of poverty. We will be providing the knowledge in a respectful way so they can break out of the cycle of poverty in the shortest possible time. Our centre is called the Empowerment Embassy so trainees, visitors and the society in general will see that disability doesn't mean low quality of life.

What will the funds raised help achieve?

We shall purchase simple low tech equipment for making tie dye and sewing. We shall teach the wives and children of blind beggars the skills so they can make beautiful high quality products like duvets, curtains, TShirts and curtains they can sell for income. Our ICT section will teach skills like basic computer use and CODE. We shall also mentor trainees on financial literacy so they can become economically independent and achieve their highest potential. These skills are very important in this post covid world and there are not enough opportunities for blind and disabled persons to acquire the skills. Providing the opportunities helps us to achieve key SDGs especially number 1, 4, 8, 10 and 16. 50 women will be trained on tie dye and sewing. 50 families and a total population of not less than 250 will experience direct improvement in their quality of life. 22 blind persons will be taught basic computer use and CODE Skills. Your donation is helping to as Nelson Mandela said "...not only overcoming poverty as a gesture of charity but it is an act of justice, protection of a fundamental human rights right to dignity and a decent life.
