How to Create a Facebook Fundraiser in 5 Easy Steps

How to create a facebook page

In the past, the only way to raise money for a cause was by passing a hat around or selling candy. In this digital age, it’s much easier to fundraise online and connect with people who are interested in supporting your cause. Fundraising with Facebook as your hub gives you access to people who might be willing to support your cause. And, if you’re not ready to go public with your fundraising campaign yet, you can create a private fundraiser that only people you know and trust can see. When you create a fundraiser on Facebook, it’s more than just setting up a page for people to give you money. It’s about using their tools and features to make things easy for both you and your donors. Here are 5 easy steps on how you can set up a fundraiser on Facebook.

Create Your Fundraiser

The first thing you’ll want to do is create your fundraiser. Click on the “Fundraisers” tab on the left sidebar and select “Create a Fundraiser.” You’ll then select “Facebook Fundraiser” and choose the category that best describes your event. Next, you’ll select a start date and an end date. The minimum length of time you can create a fundraiser in two days, but most fundraisers last 30 to 60 days. Once you’ve selected the basics, you’ll be prompted to create your fundraiser image and write a description. If you’re hosting a fundraiser for a cause, like a marathon or walk-a-thon, you can select that as the cause. If you’re raising money for someone in need, select “Health and Wellness.” Facebook will then prompt you to select the recipient of the funds.

Edit Your Page

Once you’ve set up your page, you’ll want to add some information about your cause and your campaign. You can also add an “About” section, where you can share a little more information, and a “Photos” section so you can add images from your campaign. Once you’ve added these, Facebook will prompt you to add a “Goal” for your fundraiser. You can set a goal for the total, or you can set different donation goals by date. Facebook will then prompt you to set up your “Messages.” This is where you can respond to donors and respond to people who want to ask you questions about your campaign.

Add a Cover Photo

The cover photo is the first thing people see when they come to your page, so it must have your logo, your cause, and your current fundraising goal all on it. Once you’ve added your cover photo, you can add a Header and a Profile Photo, too. The header can include a small logo or cause information, while the profile photo can include a photo of you. If you’re hosting a private fundraiser, you can remove your profile photo and header.

Add a Background Image

The background image will appear behind your cover photo and can be a photo that represents your cause, like a sick child in need of medical attention or a group of smiling marathon runners. If you’re hosting a private fundraiser, you can also upload a custom background image. The custom image can be anything you want, like logos, special images, or a short message.

Add Event Information

The “Event” section lets people RSVP to your event, share it with their friends, see who else is attending, or donate to your campaign. You can also add an “Info” section, where you can add links to your campaign, your website, other social media pages, and a list of featured sponsors.

Add Donor Rewards

The “Rewards” section is where you can offer rewards to your donors. You can offer anything from a simple “thank you” to a gift or even a personal visit from you. Just keep in mind that any rewards you offer must be “generally available” and they can’t be cash, cash equivalents, or goods or services that are offered in exchange for a donation.

Wrapping Up

Once you’ve created your Facebook fundraiser, you’ll want to start promoting it as soon as possible. The best way to do this is to share your page with your friends and family, encouraging them to donate to your cause. You can also use Facebook’s targeted advertising to reach people who are more likely to donate to your cause. That’s how you create a Facebook fundraiser in 5 easy steps. Now, all you have to do is sit back and wait for people to donate to your cause.
