PRINCE OGBONNA DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION

The role of the United Nation in global governmental affairs cannot be underestimated, from global peace missions to conflict resolutions, from creating an opportunity for fairness and sustenance of human rights, the list is enormous. One major activity that is worth mentioning is the creation of global platforms for youth and students to be involved in Global Economic, Scientific and Governmental matters, creating an opportunity for leadership development for students and youth globally. In Africa and particularly in Nigeria the role of the United Nations has been that of immense contribution to youth development and leadership development. In line with the above, Prince Ogbonna Development Foundation (PODEF) is a non- governmental organization whose mission is to see a Nigerian nation where the underprivileged, orphans, vulnerable women and physically challenged are given equal opportunities in terms of quality education,good health, good life and improve the quality of life of HIV/AIDS victims in rural communities through several skill acquisition training programs.

PROGRAM FOCUS
The program of PODEF is directed towards poverty alleviation. Providing an appropriate opportunity for students and youths especially the orphaned children/vulnerable women to understand their role and contribution to Good Governance in Nigeria. Bearing in mind that the world is now a “Global Village” thanks to Technological Advancements like smartphones and other devices and social media like Facebook, Tweeter, WhatsApp e.t.c which has contributed immensely to how we make their opinions and suggestions known towards contribution to Good Governance, self- reliance and employers of labour. They are also receiving lectures, seminars relevant to their specific needs from experts and professionals in those sectors, and students will also have the opportunity to study in a good educational environment. We are also building a child development and skill acquisition centre to enhance and accommodate more young people to be trained and become gainfully employed or self -reliant.
PODEF also takes care of the elderly and is hoping to build a home for the aged where nurses and nannies will be employed to take care of them and pay attention to their needs because we only visit them in their homes now and it is not productive enough. PODEF also has a football academy where young people are taken out of the streets and trained in football.

OBJECTIVES OF THE FOUNDATION
The forum is aimed at educating and informing students and youths on the role and contributions towards the economic advance, democracy and good governance in Nigeria. This will also help them prepare for the challenges of the future and also to bridge the gap between the present generation of leaders and the future leaders.The forum also seeks to create a platform for the Students and Youths to interact, share ideas and relate with each other as touching issues affecting them and proffer possible solution.

PARTICIPATION
The beneficiary is opened to every disadvantaged Nigerian, irrespective of tribe, religion or class.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE
It will be a continuous and consistent program with lectures and presentations and question and answer forums, dealing with various issues as touching the Education, governance, skill acquisition and mentorship. There will be a Follow-up/ Counselling Time, where participants will talk about their challenges, share ideas and possible solutions to their common challenges. It will also feature a debate competition by schools and Boot Camp.
