There are 15 communities within the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, where there is no secondary school and as a result we have an entire community youth as primary school drop out with no hope or oppurtunity to further their education. These communities are Kilankwa, Leleyi gwari, Pai, Igu, Ushafa, Zuma, Tunga nasara, Tunga ahere, Gofidna, Angwa gwalada, Pasepa, Tukpechi, Kayache, Jiwa and Dantata dakwa.
Students trek a distance of 16 Kilometers on daily basis under the scorching sun to attend the nearest schools in the city or town. Many cannot afford the daily transportation of 800 Naira and as a result they drop out of school. A major concern goes to the girls who are major victim of rape and kidnap as they trek along short cut bushes to reduce the distance stress and frustration on daily basis. Till today, some girls are still missing while some are single mothers with fatherless children.
Building a school to link these neighboring communities will save all the compounded problems of kidnap, rape, depression, frustration, trauma, and stigmatization. There is need to give a reawakening hope to these people, with a future well assured.
