10 million orphans and vulnerable children are out of school in Nigeria alone. Not by choice but because a lack of resources, loss of parents, ailing health of caregivers and more, are preventing them from having access to the education that every child deserves.
The orphan crisis has been recognized as the greatest humanitarian crisis of our time. Parental death has also been recognized as the most stressful life event a child or an adolescent can endure. Seeing that orphans have suffered a tragic loss, we are on a mission to ensure that they don’t suffer twice by making sure they are not denied access to quality education.
This September, we advocating on behalf of orphans in Nigeria. Why? Because education empowers OVCs to rewrite their future, enables them to contribute to their local communities, and ultimately, encourages them to become change agents in their own right. Educating OVCs will not only impact their individual lives, but it will transform entire households, grow economies, break the cycle of poverty, rid communities of societal nuisance and, ultimately, transform our world.
The best part is that the kind of education these ones will be exposed to will literally transform them into entrepreneurs capable of providing for themselves and their families. At BAG Initiative, we don’t just give orphans fish; we teach them to fish.
Together, we can break the barriers that keep orphans and vulnerable children out of school and start to build a brighter future for them all. It starts with 100. It starts with you.
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress (James 1:27)
See the cost breakdown:
With N96 000, a child gains access to holistic education for one year. And with our self-sustainability approach, we will not need recurring investments into a child's education year after year. So every donation counts.
