You never know when life will hit you like a bullet train.
My name is Gustavo A. Munoz. I am a primary physician in Ponce, Puerto Rico since 2006 and Medical Director since 2013 for Centro San Cristobal in Villalba, Puerto Rico which serves a community of 20,000 people.
Let’s go back to April 2017, during my cousins wedding. We were all enjoying the happy occasion, and my kids weren’t the exception. They ran, they jumped, and dove head first through my uncle’s backyard like there was no tomorrow.
The next morning, my second son Antonio Luis (3y/o) was tired all day. We ended up putting him to bed unusually early that night.
The following morning while getting ready for school, Antonio was a different kind of pale, almost transparent. Mom took him straight to the lab for blood work and with one phone call, the bad news hit.
